Norway's greatest runner - Nat's Runbit #9

First woman in history to run the marathon in under 2:30.

Winner of 9 NYC marathons (more than any runner in history).

Winner of the London Marathon in 1983 and 1986.

Silver Medal at the 1984 Olympics.

Gold medal at the 1983 World Championships.

Five time winner of the World Cross Country Championships.

....The incomparable Grete Waitz

What an inspiration Grete has been for long distance runners. So incredibly sad that she passed away from cancer in April 2011 at age 57.

But her legacy lives on!

I absolutely loved her book:  Grete Waitz: World Class

I really recommend giving this a read. Although it was published in 1986, it is filled with tons of great running/training/nutrition info and an interesting story about Grete's life and running career.

Note: when you click on the image it will take you to Amazon and for some reason they do not have a picture of the original cover. But it is the same book :)

Enjoy!
